The boat is yours. Not a seat on somebody else’s party boat, not a shared cruise with strangers who happen to have booked the same afternoon — the whole Marissa, for your crew and nobody else.

Up to 22 guests. Bring the drinks, bring the playlist, bring the sashes and the disposable cameras and the person who insists on doing the announcements. We bring the boat and a captain who has been running Mission Bay since 2009.

Two, three or four hours, leaving from 3pm. Three hours is the one most bride crews pick: enough afternoon to settle in, and you’re still out there when the light goes gold.

  • Bride crews, birthdays, girls’ trips, or a just-because day on the water.
  • Cruises from 3pm — afternoon, sunset, fireworks, or all of it.
  • You bring the drinks and the playlist, we bring the boat.
  • Dogs welcome — Capt. Lora’s beagles are usually aboard already.

What’s aboard

A walk through the Marissa at the dock on Mission Bay: the shaded deck, the benches, the galley with the cooler and fridge, and the full bathroom below.

  • A full bathroom

    A real head below, not a porta-potty. On a three-hour cruise this matters more than anything else on this list.

  • Cooler, fridge and ice

    Bring the drinks in cans; glass stays on shore. We keep them cold.

  • JBL PartyBox sound

    Plug in your phone and run your own playlist. You are the DJ.

  • Shaded deck and cushioned benches

    Room for the whole crew to sit, a canopy over the back deck, and a rug you will end up in photos on.

  • A swim platform

    Step off the back for a dip when the bay is warm, or just sit on the edge with your feet in.

  • Your captain and crew

    Capt. Lora runs the boat. You run the party.

How the afternoon usually goes

  1. 01

    Board and settle in

    Drinks into the cooler, playlist on, sashes on the bride. We pull off the dock and the day is yours.

  2. 02

    Cruise the bay

    Mission Bay is calm, warm and close to shore the whole way round, so nobody spends the afternoon seasick. Photos off the bow, dancing on the back deck.

  3. 03

    Golden hour

    On a three- or four-hour cruise you are still out when the light goes gold and the bay turns to glass. It is the shot everybody posts.

  4. 04

    Fireworks, in season

    On summer nights SeaWorld shoots fireworks over the bay. A four-hour cruise puts you under them with no one’s head in front of you.

How many people can come?
Up to 22. A charter takes the whole boat, so it is your whole crew, and nobody you did not invite.
Can we bring our own drinks?
Yes. BYOB — you bring the drinks and the playlist, we bring the boat.
